In the bright, sizzling, summer day
The crackling ground is dry from
the lack of precipitation
Crunchy flowers moan and dry out
A worm cracks on the burning sidewalk
The summer sun shines intensely in
Louisiana
The wispy clouds slowly swoop
Dark, mellow, and fluffy
Casting a shadow as they slither in
front of the sun
The earth feels a little cooler
And the ground sighs with of relief
Dark, scowling raindrops gather in
the cloud
Forming a giant cool mass
The cloud splits in half!
Heavy raindrops race toward the
ground
Even nature is revolting against
the heat
The techniques I used when creating this poem are cacophony, euphony, personification, and sibilance. In the first paragraph, cacophony is used to describe the heat on a summer day. The second paragraph is euphonic to symbolize the peace the earth feels because of the anticipated relief of the extreme temperate. Lastly, I used personification and sibilance in my poem to make it sound hopefully more interesting.
Hey Jill! I really like your poem! I like how you used those techniques to make me feel like it is going to rain!
ReplyDeleteHey Jill, this is such a great poem. The description of the setting is awesome. I can really see myself in that setting.
