Ambition

Ambition
Ambition is one of the main ideas in Macbeth. Macbeth himself is an extremely ambitious person. One could even argue that this ambition caused him to murder people. Macbeth was so ambitious to become king that he killed anyone in his way. Also, ambition caused Lady Macbeth to kill herself. She, like Macbeth, was at one point ambitious for her husband to become king, so she convinced him to murder Duncan. Later, though, she regretted this and committed suicide.

Ambition definitely is part of one of the themes in Macbeth. I feel as though one of the themes in Macbeth is that ambition, when uncontrolled, can cause a person to do horrible things. We see this theme through Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. They were so ambitious they murdered people! Ambition is not necessary a bad thing, but when one does not control it, it can be dangerous.
